For more than twenty-five years, friends and family have enjoyed my individually hand-crafted cookies-- as gifts, for celebrations, for special events, and sometimes for no darn reason at all. Thanks to the love and encouragement of my family and friends, I turned my love of baking cookies into a full-time venture. I opened The Sweet Specialist in September 2006 with the assistance of a multi-talented team that loves my cookies almost as much as me. After much planning, preparation, and tenaciousness, I established, and continue to maintain, my shop and bakery in a historic 150 year old mill situated on the Saco River in downtown Biddeford, Maine; a downtown in the midst of revitalizing its once thriving past. “It’s always the artists who lead the way,” a customer once remarked to me.

Cookies have a history and evolve as they “travel” across this ever-shrinking world. They reflect current tastes and attitudes, changing societal norms, habits, and technology. They are art—something to experience, something to feel. To this day, I can tell when someone really loves a cookie, not by what they say, but by the expression on their face!
